Sundays for me now are a sort of sanctuary–a sort of reprise from the hustle and bustle from my 8-4 job. Previous to my working at the AG’s office I had to be at a church job every Sunday or at the hospital on-call. Its nice this summer to be sipping on Whole Foods Pleasant Morning Buzz coffee [black--no cream or azúcar].

I’m recovering. My feet are on the ground [hardwood to be exact] and I am better able to hear the traffic whiz by foster ave. The sounds of the world amaze me, along with the wind which is calmly filling my living room. She is breathing fresh new life into my home. I can only be grateful! In fact, I am grateful!

And so, this Sunday’s reprise is about beer! What better way to start the week than about a beer whose Latin slogan is: “CARPE DIEM VITA BREVIS”

Translated, it is: Seize the Day; Life is Short!

Being a long-time fan of beer [and chasing beer w/ good tequila, I might add], I’ve found a lovely mahogany beer! I’ve since left the beer chasing to just letting the nice hops and lovely barley to tickle my throat, and this BROTHER THELONIOUS Belgian Style Abbey Ale does just the trick! I uncovered this beer at the Hopleaf here in Chicago, IL where one must flip page after page through their beer menu. It’s the best beer that needs NO chasing, my friends!

Brewed in Fort Bragg, CA at the North Coast Brewing Company, this ale has quite the history. But, as I’m finding out, most things from CA or imported from CA are lovely and beautiful and full of goodness, like my soul sister, my Touka, and my sexy g chimp!

Moving through life with intention, I now am learning to choose my beers with thoughtful consideration to taste, regional distinction, and so forth. And, in this case, I’ve uncovered something pretty damn amazing! I should have known that I just didn’t “pick” a beer haphazardly. After all, I don’t do anything haphazard! I sometimes don’t always understand or know why an event occurs or why, perhaps, I chose this beer, but after learning a bit about this beer, it is all becoming so very clear to me! Here’s a bit about the Brother Thelonious Beer. This is directly from their site:

When you buy Brother Thelonious Belgian Style Abbey Ale you also help to support the Thelonious Institute whose mission is to offer the world’s most promising young musicians college level training by America’s jazz masters and to present public school-based jazz education programs for young people around the world. All of these programs are offered free of charge to the students and schools.

And so, the next time you’re in the market for something pretty amazing, either head to the Hopleaf, because, from my experience, good things happen there! Or, pick up some Brother Thelonious–you’ll be supporting the world!

P.S. here’s the BT’s VITAL STATISTICS
