Trained as a theologian, I understood the theological implications of marriage. Yet, if there is a separation of church and state, then why the big fuss around what folks call “gay” marriage? The language cracks me up, even!
When I’m invited to a wedding, I don’t say: “well, I’m going to a “straight wedding or a heterosexual wedding.” I just say I’m going to a wedding!
I’m a person who has always loved differently and relished the fact of falling deeply in love with the other. Call me a hopeless romantic, but there it is. I want justice for all folks. And, there is no reason that this country, or any country, should create a separate but equal system for love. We’ve done it w/ gender [men make more than women] and though the gender gap is getting a little better, we have a long ways to go baby!
I am happy that the courts are considering and reversing the bans on marriage and separating out the religious components. This is important for this country to recognize their constitution. Its one thing we’ve not done as constituents. Click the read more to read the article from Albany, N.Y.!
