My facebook page popped up and showed me Walt’s picture, and I’d like to show it here.
There’s something strangely beautiful about this picture. There are so many things I miss about Texas, and yet, there is SO much that I absolutely love about Chicago. I have so much that I hold with passionate tension, and sometimes its hard to know where to grab hold and where to let go.
Tomorrow 06 March 2008 is International Women’s Day, and its only appropriate that I post the beauty of the place who reared me; she gave me so much and enabled me to go so far from her. I miss you and your blooms, Lone Star. You were fragrant smells in East Texas for 12 years and then you were my place of all things Mexican in San Antonio. But, you were more than that, too! You became for me a safe haven for me to ask HARD questions.
I’m grateful that you gave birth to me, Texas–I’m far from that Lone Star State, but the feminist fire and passion is still so native with me! After all, I’m a native Texan!
