In terms of the State of Management, I’m really wondering how an “economic stimulus” plan will affect the U.S. economy? Reducing the expenditure of money to individuals seems to be a a move to situate the individual in a place above community.

I cannot serve both mammon and the politics of the U.S. In fact, I cannot see how this “economic stimulus” plan is a good move!

This week has had much happen:

• College of William & Mary
• The shooting at NIU
• Violence in Eastern Africa
• Political race in the U.S.

I’m sure there is much, much more that has happened through this week, both here locally & abroad. I know many folks are left with asking questions of “why?”

With all due respect, I think the question of “why” is a question that is extremely difficult to answer. In fact, I’m not sure that the “why” questions are able to be answered. Perhaps the better question is: “Where do we go from here?” “What systems are perpetuating violence?” There is interpersonal violence, systemic violence, and the violence of the nation-state. We all will ask why, and we all will become frustrated at the ways in which the news creates a mind numbing situation of “bread and circus,” as Kant put it. And, while many folks are asking this question and wondering about the role of guns in the domestic world, wondering what exactly will come of all the violence, I’m simply returning to a place of peace and love.

As my clinical supervisor said to me in an email:

May we be agents of peace and healing.
