Assistant Professor: Mexican American Studies

Colegas,

I hope this letter finds you well and doing great work for our students and communities.

I am writing to let you know that we are hiring for a tenure-track position in Mexican American Studies (MAS) here at San José State University, beginning in Fall 2008.  We are looking for a colleague who will complement the expertise of the faculty in the department.  For this reason we are open to Chicana/o Studies scholars who do work in any number of areas, including:  the humanities, cultural studies, environmental studies, community development, health, or other specializations.

MAS at SJSU offers many unique opportunities to its faculty.  We have a Master’s program and an increasingly diverse undergraduate student population with a high percentage of undergraduate Latina/o students, many of them the first in their families to go to college.  We are located in the heart of downtown San José and are less than an hour from San Francisco, Oakland and dozens of rural communities with high concentrations of Latinas/os.

Below, I have included a brief description of the position with additional background on the department and a link to the website with the complete job posting.

Please share this information with others who you think may be interested in applying and feel free to contact me with any questions you might have.

Thanks!
